FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to make my item?

Our current Production Time is 3 days or less from the date of purchase not including shipping time.

Can I get something made with my own wording?

We love creating custom items that are unique to our customers. Custom is what we do!  Simply send us a message via the "Contact" feature to discuss the design and layout options and we will set-up a Custom Listing for you.

What is your process?

All of our pieces are handcrafted in small batches on a daily basis in our California studio. We use a minimum grade of 20 gauge metals for our bookmarks, keychains and jewelry and 16 gauge for our cuff bracelets.

Every part of the process is done by hand:

  • Tags and charms are cut to size with the edges & corners then sanded & rounded.
  • The hammered finishes are done with an old fashioned swing of the hammer.
  • Each letter, number & character is individually stamped by hand with traditional tooling...that old fashioned hammer comes into play again!
  • A patina is applied to highlight the stamping.
  • The pieces get a last & final sanding to bring out the natural beauty of the metal, with a coating of a museum grade wax applied.
  • Each item arrives individually packaged for gifting, in a signature gift bag or box with product card as detailed in each listing.

Can you stamp on both sides?

Unfortunately, the answer is No. Hand stamping is a deeper process than engraving and although we use a minimum of 20 gauge metals, stamping on both sides won't give each side a clean look. We can often make changes to our existing designs to fit additional wording. Simply contact us to go over the design options.

How does sterling silver, copper, brass and nickel age over time?

We leave our metal pieces in their organic state, sanding and buffing to bring out the natural beauty of the metals, with a light coating of a museum-grade wax. Sterling Silver, Copper, Nickel and Brass will patina over time and can vary depending on use and exposure to body oils. Copper develops a rich, dark patina, similar to circulated pennies, Nickel will take on an opaque finish, similar to aged sterling silver and Brass will develop a rich, warm patina over time as well. The naturally occurring, ageing process for all three metals, has a lovely look and aesthetic and is not considered a defect but part of the beauty and appeal of the metals. If you prefer to keep your pieces bright and shiny as received, they can be polished with a treated jewelry pad.  We offer a selection of jewelry cleaning pads and cloths on our site.

I am shipping direct to the recipient. Do you include gift messages?

We are always happy to include a complimentary message on a gift tag, if shipping direct. Please include your gift tag wording at checkout. Every item comes ready for gifting in a, cotton gift bag, or jewelry box as detailed in each listing and the gift tag will be attached to the bag or box.  Please know that we don't include any pricing information in our packaging with the exception of international shipments, as it is required by customs.
